Race Area: The race area will be in Galveston Bay, East of Seabrook Channel Marker #2 and West of the Houston Ship Channel.

Rules: The race will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. The rules will be modified to require disqualification of any boat coming into, or causing, physical contact with a Race
Committee boat.

Classes and Courses:
Windward/Leeward Courses: Classes require a minimum of five boats. Potential classes include PHRF Spinnaker, Level 70/ORC Club, J/80 and other One Design classes.
Distance Course: Classes require a minimum of four boats. Potential classes include ORC Club Spinnaker and Non Spinnaker, LYC Club Non-Spinnaker, Classic Spinnaker and/or Non Spinnaker, and Shorthanded Spinnaker and/or Non Spinnaker. Boats without a valid handicap certificate or one design class will be assigned to the LYC Club Non-Spinnaker Class on the distance course.

Restrictions on Entries:
A boat racing in a handicap class must attach a copy of its current rating certificate to the Entry Form. Any boat that does not have a one design class or a current rating certificate must provide all the information requested on the second page of the Entry Form in order that it may be rated by the Race Committee and assigned to the LYC Club Non-Spinnaker Class.

Conditions of Entry:
Sailing is an activity that has an inherent risk of damage and injury. Competitors in this event are participating entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The race organizers (organizing authority, Race Committee, protest committee, host club, sponsors, or any other organization or official) will not be responsible for damage to any boat or other property or the injury to any competitor, including death, sustained as a result of participation in this event. By participating in this event, each competitor agrees to release the race organizers from any and all liability associated with such competitor’s participation in this event to the fullest extent permitted by law. Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum coverage of $300,000 per event or the equivalent. No skipper or crew member shall participate in any race of this regatta without signing the waiver of liability attached to this NOR and turning it in to the Race Committee no later than the conclusion of the Skippers’ Meeting. Failure to provide a signed waiver for each crew member will result in the entry being incomplete and the boat will not be considered to be participating in the event.

Entry procedure:
The Entry Form, fee, skipper’s signed waiver, and any required rating certificate, must be received by 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2006. Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the Race Committee but will require a tax deductible donation to Bay Access. Forms may be faxed to Lakewood at 281-474-3502 as long as the entry fee is received before the deadline. Signed crew member waivers may be turned in with the Entry Form, or may be delivered to the Clubhouse lobby office or may be faxed to 281-474-3502, and must be received prior to the first race sailed by the crew member signing the waiver.

Sailing Instructions:
The Sailing Instructions will be available at the Skipper’s Meeting.

Notices to Competitors:
Notices to Competitors will be posted on the poolside bulletin board at Lakewood Yacht Club.

Awards:
Trophies will be awarded no more than three deep in each Class except that the Race Committee will offer a fourth place trophy for classes of more than twelve boats. Shoes will be awarded to the skipper and crew of the first place boat in each Class, based on the actual number of crew sailing in Saturday’s first race, so long as that number does not exceed Class or PHRF-GB crew limitations.

Crew Member Participation Gifts:
Participation gifts will be awarded to any crew member who attends the Saturday Night party.

Docking/ Launching:
Competitors are welcome to leave their boats in the Inner Harbor of LYC for the duration of the regatta. Launching cranes and ramps are available at no charge. Accommodations may be made by contacting the LYC Harbor Administrator Joan Cordes at 281 474-2540
