About Event

The Beer Stein Regatta will be governed by the 2017-2020 Racing Rules of Sailing. It is organized by the Neuse Yacht Racing Association as a distance race with a Pursuit Start, beginning in Oriental and finishing in New Bern. If weather conditions are subpar, the Race will be finished at Neuse River Mark #11. Otherwise the race will be finished at Government Mark #1 at the entrance of North West Creek. Final decisions on course will be determined at the Skipper’s Meeting held at 9:00 AM near the Tiki Bar in Oriental. Start times for registered boats will be given at the Skipper’s Meeting. All boats shall comply with N.C. Wildlife Commission and U.S. Coast Guard safety regulations. One race is planned for the Beer Stein Regatta; one completed race will constitute the regatta. Eligibility. The Regatta is open to any Yacht holding a current NC-PHRF. Eligible boats may enter by completing an entry form online at www.nyra.org, and paying the required fees to NYRA. Late entries will be accepted via online registration until 7:30 pm May 20. Additionally, Late Registration will be available prior to the Skipper’s Meeting at 9:00 AM on May 21st near the Tiki Bar in Oriental. Classes. A minimum of three boats will constitute a class. There will be classes for spinnaker, non-spinnaker, cruising, and multi hull fleets. Each fleet may be broken into multiple classes based on PHRF rating, depending on the number of entries, at the discretion of the Principal Race Officer. Scoring. PHRF handicap system scored with a pursuit start. PHRF: A NC-PHRF Rating Request form can be submitted for boats that do not have a current rating. Please complete the form available at http://www.ncphrf.com/. If you need to apply for a rating, please send the completed and signed Request Form and check no later than 1 week prior to the regatta to the address on the form Disclaimer of Liability. Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See Rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the regatta. Each participating boat shall either self-insure or carry adequate third party insurance to cover their liability.
