Ventura Cup Individual & Team Buoy and Random Leg Competition Sept. 15-16 and Santa Barbara Channel Challenge Individual Random Leg-Only Competition Sept. 16
Ventura Yacht Club is pleased to announce the 2018 Ventura Cup Regatta and Santa Barbara Channel Challenge random leg race. The Ventura Cup Regatta will be sailed in the waters off Ventura Harbor on Sept 15-16, 2018. The Santa Barbara Channel Challenge race will be sailed on Sept 16. The Ventura Cup will be comprised of up to three windward-leeward buoy races on Saturday and the Santa Barbara Channel Challenge random leg race on Sunday.
The Santa Barbara Channel Challenge will be a single random leg race on Sunday, which will also serve as the climax race for the Ventura Cup. Skippers who enter the Ventura Cup will automatically be entered in the Santa Barbara Channel Challenge. The Ventura Cup Regatta will be a competition of spinnaker entrants.
Each area yacht club may designate up to three 3-boat teams to compete for the Ventura Cup. Boats may enter the Ventura Cup even if not on a team and vie for individual honors. Boats entering the Ventura Cup are scheduled to race both days. The Santa Barbara Channel Challenge race will be a competition of spinnaker boats. Boats only entering the Santa Barbara Channel challenge race sail only on Sunday.
