GREAT NEWS FOR 2020 Parrothead Regatta
The Town of Oriental is again officially rolling out the Red Carpet for all Parrothead racers.
The Town has reserved Town Dock #2 (the one with the pumpout on it, near the Public Restroom) from July 25, 12 noon, until July 26, 12 noon.)
No rafting is allowed on any of the docks. We're in the height of shrimp season, and rafting can get the boater blocked in by a trawler (we know a thing or two, because we've seen a thing or two)
Other space is available at Town Dock #1 first come, first served, but will not be reserved for this event. Once tied up, sailors can dock for up to 48 hrs. Please use dock #2 first
Limited Free DOCKAGE (no power available) for up to 48 hours
Yes, this is a FREE Neuse River Race for all NC sailors, with a beginner friendly pursuit start beginning near marker #17 on the Neuse,(across from Fairfield Harbour), leaving #8 to port, then #1AC to port, and finishing at Oriental #1. It is open to all mono-hull sailboats 21 feet or longer and will be governed by the rules defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2020.
Those without a current NC-PHRF rating certificate (Arghh!!) will be assigned a rating by the Principal Race Officer (PRO). The scoring will be based on Time-on-Distance handicapping with each boat given a starting time at the skippers meeting. Awards will be given in each class as deemed appropriate by the Organizing Authority in its sole discretion.
