The Quicker/Tarantino Invitational, first regatta on Navy Yacht Club San
Diego's racing calendar, is raced in honor of the two founders of NYCSD -
Joe Quicker and Al Tarantino who laid the groundwork for the club in 1964
with the San Diego Naval Sailing Association. At that time, NYCSD was
located at Glorietta Bay and moved to its current South Bay location in
1969.

South San Diego Bay is a premiere location known for its fresh breeze
across the Silver Strand and the need for tactical maneuvers by skippers.
