NYRA’s Full Moon Overnight Regatta on August 17 -
All are invited to join in for a moonlight sail on the Neuse during the full moon Saturday in August! This is a 60 mile overnight race starting Saturday, August 17th at dusk (7:55 pm) and ending Sunday morning near Blackbeard Sailing Club. Class A (boats under PHRF 144) will race to Gov. Marker “NR” & back. There will also be a shorter course for Class B (Over PHRF 144 boats) and Class C (Cruising boats) The shorter course is approximately 35-miles to Gov. Marker “#7”, (the Garbacon Shoal marker) and back. Please note the Race Committee has the authority to re-assign any boat it feels should be in a different class.
This race is open to all mono-hull sailboats 23 feet or longer with a current NC-PHRF rating certificate and meeting these safety requirements:
batteries capable of supplying 12 hours running light time, life lines fore and aft mounted a minimum of 12” above the deck, current flares, a throw-able ring or cushion with attached minimum 50’ floating line, a personal light of some type attached to all life preservers worn by sailors, VHF radios and cell phones. Life preservers must be worn at all times while on deck.
The race will start in the vicinity of Gov. marker #2 at dusk (7:55 pm) on the 17th and finish back at Blackbeard in the creek just off the Breakwater on the morning of the 18th.
Sunday morning there will be a continental breakfast at the clubhouse for the racers from 08:00 am until around 11:00 an, complete with Bloody Marys, Mimosas, and more! 1 breakfast included in race registration; additional breakfast tickets may be purchased for $10 each!
