Wednesday night sailboat racing is nationally known for its low key "fun" racing, most often dubbed the "Beer Can Series". The Tahoe Yacht Club has found that busy weekend schedules as well as consistent evening breezes produces the highest number of boats for this weekly "hump-day" event.
The season of racing is broken into two series, Spring and Summer. The spring series includes 7 nights of racing, and begins 2 days after Memorial Day each year and concludes in Mid July.
The summer series also includes 7 nights of racing, and begins in mid July and concludes in late August. The final race night each year is followed by the Beer Can Ball, an awards party for the series. Post race get-togethers at the club are always a laugh as the events of the evening are re-animated.
