Registration is open for DYSA SUNDAY Spring 2022 sailing classes February 27 thru May 1. Please read class descriptions. Please note that DYSA may change your class selection based on student ability. Class size is limited
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:
...(1) EXPLORING SAILING (OPPIs): For all new to sailing and not versed in racing, this class explores the art of sailing through hands on experiences with a focus on developing a love for the lifelong sport of sailing. Youth sailors will become familiar with rigging the sailboat, points of sail, wind direction and water safety. This class is for beginners and returning sailors that want a refresh or missed a session or more last season.
Ages 8 - 11 Time: 1p-4:30p
...(2) EXPLORING GREEN FLEET: Newer sailors that wish to hone their skipper skills. This class builds on the basics previously learned. Perfect for returning sailors.
Prerequisite: Must have sailed previously sailed with DYSA or have sailing experience. Time 9a-12p
...(3) GREEN FLEET SKIPPERS (IODs): Emphasis on the racing rules of sailing. Must be comfortable sailing upwind! May have the opportunity to travel to local race(s) within the session. Time 1p-4:30p
...(4) DOUBLE HANDED SEAMANSHIP (420s): Learn to handle larger boats and work as a team. For sailors in 7th grade and up, weight over 100 lbs. with previous sailing experience. Ages: 13-18. Time 1p-4:30p
...(5)SPINNAKER/RACING C420s: Racing drills, strategies and rules will be the emphasis of practicing utilizing trapeze and spinnaker. 9a-2p
