Welcome to the Chesapeake Bay ILCA Masters at Fishing Bay Yacht Club this weekend!
We've got 32 boats registered and may have a few more expected to join us for a great weekend of sailing and camaraderie. As always - we've got a great group of volunteers and we thank them for their work to make this happen. And to the sailors - thanks for continuing to come year after year – having you here is what makes this a great event and we will make this as fun and safe as we can.
Here's a few things to know as you make your way to Deltaville:
PARKING
Please park boats either in the ‘ILCA Coral’ directly in front of the main club-house, or in the field directly adjacent to the pool. Cars can be parked around the outside of the ILCA Coral (bow in, not parallel) or in front of the Flying Scots & Melges 15s (we have permission to block them unless there's a cone there). Please do not park around the S2 7.9 Cheeky Monkey near the barn as the owner will need access this weekend. Please DO NOT parallel park along any of the roadways in particular the area just in front of the rigging field. After you've unloaded your boat, please move your car in front a Flying Scot/Melges 15 or to another parking area.
PRACTICE
Sailors are welcome to arrive on Friday and launch and practice on their own.
REGISTRATION & CHECK IN
On Saturday, when you arrive at the club and are parked, please check in at the registration desk inside the first floor of the clubhouse to pick up your t-shirt.
DOCUMENTS
Sailing Instructions have been posted and they can be found along with the NOR here: https://www.regattanetwork.com/event/26728#_docs
Regatta Network Event Website: https://www.regattanetwork.com/event/26728
In a step towards going digital - we'll using tape to post our notices to the bottom of a TV in place of the cork board used in the past.
BREAKFAST
We will have breakfast available both Saturday and Sunday morning at the club starting around 7:30am. It will consist of breakfast egg casserole[GF] (cheese, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes), muffins, coffee, juice, fruit, and assorted other unhealthy items.
DINNER
When it’s time for dinner – we will be having the line form outside and enter the porch from the east door near the serving counter.
Please be around the clubhouse by 7:00pm for dinner. At that time snacks, drinks and o'dourves will be served. Dinner will be served as short time later as soon as it is ready. Water, soft drinks, beer and wine will be available and are included in the dinner. Dinner will be Chick-in-loaf meatloaf with Fried Chicken Leg, Mixed Vegetables and Peach Cobbler.
We will have some Legend’s beer on tap as well as an assortment of other beers, seltzers and ciders. Bring your own mug or glass for the Legends if you want something other than a red cup.
WATER
There are water coolers in the clubhouse to fill water bottles or a water filling station near the pool. The tap water in the bathrooms/kitchen is also safe for drinking (all are county water – NEW!).
RIG SWAP
A reminder that the masters rig swap rule is in effect. Everyone sails together , but you can sail a radial, standard or 4.7 and everyone starts and races together. You can change rigs for each day of the regatta. Be sure to bring both rigs if you have them - even if you don't think you will use them - you never know!
SI 15 EQUIPMENT
Competitors may sail with a full, radial, or 4.7 sail and spars as long as the sail numbers have been registered for the regatta, and they must sail with the rig with which they left the launch site.
MASTERS MAST BANDS
Masters age bands are designated by a colored band on the lower mast between the vang fitting and the gooseneck. Tape can be picked up inside the first floor of the clubhouse. The colors are as follows:
Green – Apprentice Master
Pink (or Red) – Master
Blue – Grand Master
Yellow – Great Grand Master
Purple – Legend
WEATHER
Looks like the weather will cool off this weekend with highs in the low 80s and a small chance of isolated thunderstorms both days and light winds out of the south with a building sea breeze in the afternoon. Overnight low temperatures in the low 70s. Water temperature should be around 80.

CAMPING
Tent camping at FBYC is welcomed and encouraged. For those who are camping, please camp only the designated area on the North side of the property near the east bathhouse. There may be a sign. Please ignore any painted spaces in the grass that were used for last weekend’s regatta.
There are 3 buildings on the club property and each has restroom/shower facilities. Feel free to use whichever is most convenient and all are open 24/7. The fenced area adjacent to the dumpsters and parking area is private property - please respect our neighbors and keep camping activities on FBYC property.

BOAT LAUNCHING
There are two launching ramps. The first is the concrete ramp between the club and the pool. The other is the grass ramp on the east side of the property. At the bottom of both is a beach for leaving dollies, etc while we are sailing. Hoses for wash down are located near the junior shed at the top of the grass ramp, and between the rows of trailer parked boats.
That's about it. I should be around the club by noon on Friday. If you have any questions I prefer email jon-fbyc@jdeutsch.com and will have access to it throughout the weekend. I can also be reached by phone or text message at 804-305-1244
Please drive safely and see you this weekend!
