Please join us for a moonlight sail during the "full mon in June" on the Neuse River. This is a 60-mile overnight race (to Gov. Marker “NR” & back) on the Neuse River for the faster Spinnaker PHRF boats. We suggest only faster boats (under PHRF 144) who choose to fly a spinnaker enter "Class A". We have a shorter course for the "Class B" Non-Spinnaker boats and the "Class C" Cruising boats: it's a 35-mile course (to Gov. Marker “#7”, Garbacon Shoal marker) and back. Please note the Race Committee has the authority to re-assign any boat it feels should be in a different class. This race is open to all mono-hull sailboats 23 feet or longer with a current NC PHRF rating certificate and meeting these safety requirements: batteries capable of supplying 12 hours running light time, life lines fore and aft mounted a minimum of 12” off the deck, current flares, a throw-able ring or cushion with attached minimum 50’ floating line, a personal light of some type attachable to all life preservers, VHF radios and cell phones. Life preservers must be worn at all times while on deck. Trophies to be awarded in Class A Spinnaker, Class B Non-spinnaker, and Class C Cruising. If more than 9 boats enter a class, then that class may break out into divisions at the sole discretion of the race committee. The race will start in the vicinity of Gov. marker #2 at dusk (for exact time see sailing instructions) on the 13th and finish back at Blackbeard in the creek just off the Breakwater on the morning of the 14th.
